Senator John Heinz Pittsburgh Regional History Center, Strip District
People save clothing -- favorite dresses or children’s outfits are part of the history center’s special textile collection. This tour will show you everyday workers’ clothes and fabulous gowns from Pittsburgh’s history. Browse through drawers holding beaded handbags, feathered fans and petite parasols as you are transported through time, one garment at a time.
April 19: The Curtain Rises
Heinz Hall, Downtown
The spectacular Heinz Hall is the centerpiece of the city’s reinvigorated and lively Cultural District and one of the region’s greatest architectural masterpieces. Explore behind-the-scenes of this spectacular theater to witness how the magic happens on stage for the symphony, children’s concerts and touring Broadway shows.
April 26: People, Places and Personality
Carnegie Museum of Art, Oakland

The human figure is the subject explored more than any other in the history of art. Take a discerning look at the people and personalities we confront in portraits and other figural works in the museum’s expansive galleries. Compare images of women and men and study the physical and psychological dimensions of people in art.
May 3: Fiber is Good For You
Society for Contemporary Craft, Strip District
One of a rare handful of organizations in the country with a distinct focus on contemporary craft as art. This spring, the gallery will feature the not-to-be-missed FiberArt International 2007, a premier event documenting trends and innovations in the fiber art field. Urban Mommies will receive a guided tour of this triennial, juried exhibition that features many local woman artists.
May 10: Back In Time
The Frick Art and Historical Center, Point Breeze
The art museum was built in 1969 to house Helen Clay Frick’s collection of fine and decorative arts in an atmosphere of intimacy. Paintings are displayed with porcelains, bronzes and rare examples of 17th and 18th century furniture. A special docent-led tour spotlights the artwork, artists and style of paintings in this Pittsburgh neighborhood gem.
May 17: Pop Culture with Mom Appeal
Andy Warhol Museum, North Shore
Over the course of his career, Andy Warhol transformed contemporary art, challenging preconceived notions about the nature of art and erasing distinctions between fine art and popular culture. Experts will guide Urban Mommies through the life, times and artwork of this American – and Pittsburgh – legend in the museum’s world-renowned collection.
May 24: Art You Can Get Into
The Mattress Factory, North Side
The Mattress Factory is a museum of contemporary art that presents room-sized environments, created by in-residence artists from around the world. Discover these unusual galleries that engage all of the senses!
